Dr. Joiner provides a complimentary initial evaluation. Many of our patients are referred to us for an evaluation by their general dentist or pediatric dentist. However, it is not necessary to be referred by a dentist to see us for an evaluation!

What to expect

After the evaluation appointment is arranged, we will send you information, including a map of our location. When you arrive at our office, feel free to pour a cup of fresh coffee or tea. Soon enough, you'll be meeting Victoria, our New Patient Coordinator, who will be your hostess for the rest of the appointment.

Tour

After reviewing some information with you and/or your child, Victoria will give you a tour of our office and will take complimentary photos and a panoramic X-ray (unless your dentist already has one available). You will next see a short CD-ROM summary of what orthodontics is all about and then you'll meet Dr. Joiner. Dr. Joiner will chat with you and review the X-ray, then proceed with the actual examination of the teeth, jaw joint, and facial profile. He'll review his findings with you (in plain English!) and, if treatment is needed, will discuss treatment recommendations. You will receive a set of photos and a summary of your orthodontic needs.

If treatment is recommended

Assuming treatment is indicated, Victoria will help you set up an appointment for diagnostic records (you will learn about these during the CD-ROM show) and will discuss fees and financial arrangements, as well as insurance, if you have benefits. She will also help set up appointments to get treatment underway!

This appointment usually takes about an hour if treatment is indicated, and about 45 minutes if not indicated at this time. Does this sound long to you? Believe us, the time flies by! We are very thorough and feel that you deserve a complete evaluation and discussion of your or your child's unique situation at this important time. We're here to serve you!
